AmeriCares Thanks Nestlé Waters for Katrina Support
After Hurricane Katrina wound a deadly and destructive path across the Gulf Coast in late August, AmeriCares mobilized quickly, sending emergency response teams into Mississippi and Louisiana to help those left homeless by the catastrophe.
Nestlé Waters North America also mobilized quickly to support AmeriCares’ efforts, sending truckloads of bottled water to Mississippi to aid the hundreds of thousands of people who had been affected there. AmeriCares coordinated the distribution of this vitally needed aid, some of which was given to the National Guard which dropped water via helicopter to those who remained isolated by the flood waters days after Katrina had struck.
As the relief effort neared the one-month mark, Nestlé Waters North America also donated truckloads of water directly to AmeriCares’ warehouse in Stamford,CT to ensure that plenty of water remained available for future needs.
“We are extremely grateful to Nestlé Waters North America for their rapid response to this devastating disaster,” said Ken Baker, Vice President of Corporate Relations for AmeriCares. “Nestlé has been a valued partner with AmeriCares for more than 15 years and we know we can always depend upon them in emergency situations.”
Since its founding in 1982, AmeriCares has delivered more than $5 billion in aid to 137 countries around the world. To learn more about AmeriCares, log onto its web site, http://www.americares.org/.
