As Almost Half-Million Bottles Reach Haiti, Nestlé Waters North America Continues Work with Relief Agencies to Deliver Emergency Water

As part of the global humanitarian aid effort to the earthquake crisis in Haiti, Nestlé Waters North America today provided an update on efforts to fulfill its pledge to donate $1 million in bottled water to ongoing relief efforts, to which the company has so far allocated 2.59 million bottles of its bottled water.

Last week, a massive shipment of the water arrived in Haiti via a United States Navy airlift — approximately 480,000 bottles consisting of fifteen truckloads of Poland Spring® and three truckloads of Zephyrhills®. In addition, two truckloads of Deer Park® are en route in cooperation with NOAH (National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians), and 31,000 half-liter bottles of Poland Spring were delivered to a Sub Sea Research cargo ship which departed Portland, Maine on a relief mission to Haiti on January 31.

Update on Nestlé Waters North America Relief Efforts in Haiti

Following a pledge of $1 million in bottled water to Haiti on Tuesday, January 13, by Nestlé Waters North America CEO Kim Jeffery, NWNA has worked every day with relief organizations to get water and supplies to people in critical need.

About 70 truckloads of Poland Spring, Deer Park, Zephyrhills, and Nestlé Pure Life bottled water have been deployed so far from Maine, Pennsylvania and Florida. Many of these trucks have been arriving in Florida, where our partners at AmeriCares are managing the complex task of transport and distribution to the island. We have also helped support an AmeriCares charter plane that put medical supplies and personnel on the ground in Haiti in the immediate aftermath of the quake.

Nestlé Waters is also providing water to support medical airlifts to Haiti by Partners in Health and the National Organization for the Advancement of Haitians.

What you can do to help:
• You can make monetary donations to AmeriCares via phone at 1-800-486-HELP or online via www.americares.org.

• The American Red Cross is accepting donations. Mobile donors can text "Haiti" to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross. People can also make a donation to the American Red Cross International Response Fund at Redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS

Relief Effort for Haiti Underway

As the situation in Haiti continues to develop, many at Nestlé Waters are working to get water to those in crital need. We will provide updates as available from our team and from our non-profit and business partners as we learn more.

There are 20 trucks loaded with water from Poland Spring on their way to Miami now with an additional 50 more trucks to follow soon to be warehoused in Miami, awaiting transport to the island. As has been reported, it is still very difficult to get supplies onto  the ground in Haiti, because of the widespread devastion. We are so grateful to our partners at the AmeriCares relief agency who are working right now to get a few trucks airlifted, clearning dock space and preparing transport by ship or plane. We are also exploring avenues with the National Guard and the White House, both for water delivery and troop support in the relieft zone.
