Nestlé Waters Opens New South Carolina Bottling Plant

$40 Million Investment and 60 Jobs Created

MCBEE, S.C. and STAMFORD, Conn. - April 7, 2016 - Nestlé Waters North America today announced the grand opening of its newest bottling facility in McBee, South Carolina supplying Deer Park® Natural Spring Water and Nestlé Pure Life® Purified Water to customers throughout the southeast region.  Nestlé Waters Chief Executive Officer Tim Brown was joined by South Carolina state and local leaders to celebrate the opening of the plant which represents a $40 million investment and the creation of 60 new jobs.

Following a ceremonial ribbon cutting, Brown invited the local community to an open house on Saturday, April 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The open house will include family-friendly activities, lunch and tours of the new bottling facility.

“We are proud to be a part of this community and reaffirm our pledge to be a responsible water steward as well as a conscientious neighbor,” said Brown.  “Today marks the culmination of close collaboration with a multitude of local, regional and state groups, and we are committed to creating shared value for McBee and surrounding Chesterfield County.”

“Nestlé Waters’ decision to build and operate a bottling facility here is a testament to our region’s strengths as a good place to do business,” said County Council Chairman Johnson. “Having a world-class company like Nestlé Waters will enhance our economic development efforts,” he said. 

“We’re delighted to call South Carolina home,” said South Carolina Plant Manager Tom Strowe.  “We look forward to being your neighbor for many years and becoming an integral part of this community.”

Strowe and the new plant’s Natural Resource Manager, Lance Tully, also announced a partnership with nearby McBee High School FFA members (formerly known as Future Farmers of America). The students planted and cultivated 200 begonia plants to be used as giveaways and decorations for the grand opening events. 

“The FFA students are our future leaders,” said Strowe. “The brightly colored flowers that they nurtured are a symbol of new growth and a bright future for Nestlé Waters and Chesterfield County.” 

“I appreciate Nestlé Waters’ commitment to education and for giving our students the opportunity to join in on this historic event,” said Pat Earle, agricultural education instructor and FFA advisor at McBee High School.
