New YouTube videos highlight the safety of plastic water bottles, advantages of plastic versus glass bottles and importance of recycling

Available on YouTube, the videos provide information on the safety of plastic as a packaging material, the differences between plastic and glass water bottles and the importance of recycling programs – regardless of the type of water or other beverage being consumed.

Are Plastic Bottles Safe?

The first of the three videos provides information on plastic safety and answers questions about bisphenol-A, commonly known as BPA. The video includes insight from a research biologist from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on BPA in regard to consumer health and safety.

Would Glass Be Better Than Plastic Bottles for Bottled Water?

This video highlights a recent EPA-sponsored study that examined different types of packaging to provide insight on the advantages of plastic over glass from environmental and practical perspectives. Viewers also learn about Nestlé Waters’ commitment to reducing its environmental impact through innovations such as the recent launch of re-source™, a brand of natural spring water with bottles made with 25 percent recycled plastic.

What about Water Bottles in the Trash and Recycling?

This video addresses the amount of water bottles that end up in the U.S. waste stream, even though plastic bottles are 100-percent recyclable. Also highlighted are the challenges people face in finding accessible and quality recycling programs in the United States – 40 percent of Americans currently do not have access to curbside recycling. The video concludes with information on how Nestlé Waters is working to promote recycling within communities and the industry.
