To engage in a broad public discussion about the newly released 2012 Creating Shared Value Report, Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) participated in the company’s first Twitter chat on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 18.
The chat was hosted by corporate social responsibility (CSR) media sites CSRwire and Triple Pundit, who prompted NWNA responses to a wide range of challenging and thought-provoking questions from the audience. You can see some of the discussion on Twitter by searching for #SharedValue.
NWNA is only one of four companies to have participated in a Twitter chat with CSRwire and Triple Pundit. There were balanced comments about various issues from recycling and packaging to education and health. Feedback from participants confirms NWNA’s belief that transparency is a critical element in Creating Shared Value.
“We were pleased with the high turnout. Engaging in this way through social media can inform and improve how we conduct our business,” said NWNA Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs Heidi Paul. “It also lets our stakeholders know we care what they have to say and appreciate their suggestions.”
Today’s conscious consumers are demanding that companies communicate with them in a meaningful way. NWNA found the Twitter chat an effective tool to accomplish just that while also hearing the interests and concerns of stakeholders firsthand.
You can read more thoughts on Creating Shared Value in two CSRwire blogs that were posted in advance of the Twitter chat, including an interview and blog post authored by Heidi Paul.
