Poland Spring® Brings Extra Spirit to the Boston Marathon

Nestlé Waters North America and Poland Spring® Brand Natural Spring Water were proud to join in supporting the 36,000 runners and more than 1 million spectators who came together to line the 26.2 mile route of the 118th Boston Marathon on April 21. 

As the official water sponsor of the Boston Marathon since 2008, Poland Spring® was proud to be with runners every step of the journey. New to the 2014 marathon was the unveiling of the Poland Spring® “Cheer Meter,” an interactive installation at Mile 19 that captured, as a visual representation, the inspiration and emotions of well-wishers and supporters along the route. With this exciting new feature, Poland Spring® united the voices of thousands of “honorary Bostonians” who lined the streets to cheer on the runners and help inspire them to the finish. The company donated $250,000 to the One Fund to support those most affected by the bombings, and this year pledged to make an incremental donation based on “Cheer Meter” participation. Due to the overwhelming response from the crowd, the cheer meter raised an additional $10,000 for a total of $260,000! 

Poland Spring® also participated in a video board presentation at Fenway Park during the traditional Marathon Monday home game. Boston firefighters, policeman, military members and survivors joined the Red Sox in honoring the victims of last year’s bombings before the game.
