Nestlé Waters North America Statement About Flint, MI

To Press Releases listFeb 11, 2016

Nestlé Waters North America shares the deep concern about the health and safety of the people of Flint, Michigan.  We are focused on supporting the community so they can access safe, clean drinking water. For instance, since October 2015, we have been donating bottled water to local organizations which coordinate the distribution of these supplies to Flint residents.

Any allegations linking Nestle Water North America (NWNA) to this crisis are completely unfounded and distract from the real issue at hand, the health and safety of the people of Flint. :

Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) has never drawn water from Lake Huron or its watershed.   We source water from four groundwater sources within and recharged by the Muskegon River watershed, which we closely monitor for long-term sustainability. Our geologists evaluate a wide range of local and regional water indicators and conditions including groundwater levels and surface water levels to help ensure that our operations are sustainable for the long-term.

Nestlé has been contributing to the Michigan economy since 1928, with our Gerber plant in Fremont as well as our bottled water operations in Mecosta County. Nestlé have a total of 1,974 employees across the state and are committed to providing support to local communities in times of need, whether through bottled water donations or other means, such as hunger-relief efforts.
