On December 4, 2012, Michael Washburn, Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) vice president of sustainability attended The Atlantic’s Forum on Conservation, Efficiency, and Growth, which brought together environmental experts and industry leaders to discuss the intersection between business and the environment.
Michael Washburn participated in the Forum’s “In the Green: Corporate Environmental Responsibility and the Bottom Line” panel, alongside representatives from AT&T, Walmart, Center for American Progress, and Environmental Defense Fund. Moderated by The Atlantic’s Steve Clemons, the panel explored the financial and social benefits of making a commitment to sustainability and best practices in promoting sustainable business to stakeholders. Washburn suggested that an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model for recycling is one of many solutions to help companies not only reduce their environmental impact, but also save costs.
A video of the Forum, which was streamed live, will be available for viewing at http://events.theatlantic.com/forum-conservation-efficiency-and-growth/2012.
