WaterVentures™, Florida’s Learning Lab vehicle made a stop in Florida’s capital city on April 4th to help celebrate the 2013 Florida Oceans Day. Through its partnership with Zephyrhills’ spring source Crystal Preserve, WaterVenturesTM made its debut on Tallahassee’s Capitol Plaza for the celebration.
Local community members and politicians toured the vehicle to experience the interactive vehicle first-hand. WaterVentures tours elementary schools throughout the state andbrings to life Crystal Springs Foundation’s environmental education programs in a high-tech format that empowers Florida’s students to make environmentally conscious decisions.
This year’s Oceans Day theme, Oceans of Opportunity for Economic Growth, focused on the value of the state’s oceans and coasts to the state’s economy. Through workshops and exhibits, the goal is to educate the public and Florida’s legislators about the importance and impact of Florida’s oceans and coasts on the state’s economy and jobs. The event is sponsored by the Florida Ocean Alliance, Mote Marine Laboratory and the Florida Institute of Oceanography.
