The ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 3 is the story of 48,000 runners and 12,000 volunteers on a celebratory journey through the world’s most vibrant city. Year after year, Poland Spring® Brand 100% Natural Spring Water has remained a proud sponsor of the premier event of the New York Road Runners, not only on race day, but for the entire week leading up to the New York City Marathon. This year will be no different, as more than 400 volunteers, all wearing our official Poland Spring jackets, will be seen throughout the 26.2-mile course.
Marathon week started off with the Poland Spring 5 Mile Kickoff Race taking place on Sunday, October 27 in New York City’s Central Park. All 5,000 runners received branded t-shirts and had the opportunity to sample Poland Spring Sparkling, Nature’s Blends, as well as Poland Spring before and after the race. Poland Spring volunteers collected all bottles used at this race for recycling with bins throughout the grounds.
Poland Spring will also be present at the ING NewYork City Marathon Health and Fitness Expo October 31 – November 2. Visitors are welcome to visit the Poland Spring booth to pick up some running swag and have an inspirational photo taken, which they can instantly upload and share on their social channels. They can share their stories of inspiration and what “Better Is” means to them on running bibs and display them at our Better Is Activation Wall at the Expo.
On race day, we will distribute Poland Spring 8oz bottles at the start of the race and use 1-gallon containers along the race route at each Hydration Station. The Poland Spring volunteers will be hard to miss at our Mile 17 Hydration Station featuring water, Poland Spring coupons and premium distribution, plus a live DJ.
Throughout Marathon Week, Poland Spring will not only be hydrating runners and spectators, but also demonstrating our commitment to recycling by providing 1.6 million recyclable cups for the course. Thanks to our volunteers, we will also go that extra mile with an intense clean up at Mile 17, as well as recycling any bottles left behind along the course.
“This is an incredible year to be a marathon runner in New York City,” says Christina Brand, Senior Marketing Manager, Poland Spring. “Poland Spring is excited to be back as a part of this great community to support this year’s runners on their personal journeys.”
Wishing luck to all of this years’ runners!
