NWNA Helps Pennsylvania Students Celebrate Trout in the Classroom Program

NWNA Partners with Northwestern Lehigh Middle School | Nestlé Waters NA

Over 170 Northwestern Lehigh Middle School students celebrated the culmination of their Trout in the Classroom (TIC) program by releasing their trout into a Pennsylvania brook on April 4. For the first year ever, NWNA sponsored the program and served as the school’s partner.

NWNA helped the students raise the brook trout from eggs to fingerlings by providing assistance with brook trout egg delivery and helping students engage in coldwater conservation education.

"This is our first year doing it, and we're sort of getting our feet wet," said David Dennis, NWNA springs maintenance specialist. "This is really cool. It's a hands-on lesson, and we hope to expand it."

The TIC program is made possible through a partnership between the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU), and is supported by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
