Since Zephyrhills® helped launch WaterVentures in 2013, the customized 53-foot mobile learning lab has put Floridians on the path to becoming water stewards in their own communities. Earlier this month, the brand and WaterVentures celebrated a major milestone - educating one million Floridians on water stewardship! The celebration took place at the Florida State Fair with media appearances, giveaways, coupons and surprise tickets to a Florida family favorite, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.
“Zephyrhills Brand is honored to be a sponsor of WaterVentures, and we are so excited to have reached this major milestone,” said Kent Koptiuch, Zephyrhills® Brand Natural Resource Manager. “As a natural spring water brand sourced locally in Florida, we are keenly aware of the importance of our state’s water resources, and we are committed to helping WaterVentures foster the next generation of water stewards through its educational platforms.”
Funding from Zephyrhills® allows WaterVentures to visit schools, fairs and community events statewide. The mobile learning lab features museum-quality experiential learning activities and exhibits that offer a hands-on look at Florida’s diverse watersheds, water conservation, recycling efforts, and how water moves through our lives. To date, they have completed 449 school visits, 80 community events, and 120 summer programs across the state.
“It’s a fun, engaging way to educate Floridians on water stewardship while empowering them to do their part in helping preserve Florida’s environment for generations to come,” said Alyson Valpone, Community Brand Manager.
WaterVentures is based on the experience and success of the Crystal Springs Foundation and Crystal Springs Preserve, a 530-acre sanctuary devoted to environmental education and dedicated to the preservation of Florida’s natural environment.
“We are thrilled to have educated over one million people and look forward to working with the next million in the years to come,” said Karen Pate, Vice President - Crystal Springs Preserve. “We are so grateful to Zephyrhills Brand and our supporters for helping make this happen.”
