Stamford, CT – Nestlé Waters North America (Nestlé Waters), the nation’s third largest beverage company, has committed to donate $200,000 to the WaterKeeper Alliance in 2014 in support of their member organizations. Waterkeeper Alliance endeavors to protect all watersheds by promoting drinkable, swimmable and fishable waterways worldwide. Thus far, Nestlé Waters has donated $100,000 to two organizations.
The first $50,000 has been donated to the Friends of Casco Bay/Casco Baykeeper in Maine. Friends of Casco Bay is a marine stewardship organization working to preserve the environmental health of Casco Bay through various education, advocacy, water quality monitoring programs and collaborative partnerships.
Another $50,000 has been donated to the Inland Empire Waterkeepers (IEWK) in California. The organization is responsible for preservation, restoration and stewardship of the Chino Basin in Southern California. The IEWK is facilitating an ongoing clean-up effort that takes place from April to September, 2014. Arrowhead employee volunteers will be participating in upcoming clean-up events.
To raise awareness of the efforts put forth by these organizations, Nestlé Waters will be adding the Casco Baykeeper logo to one gallon bottles of Poland Spring® 100% Natural Spring Water, which are available throughout the northeast, and the Inland Empire Waterkeeper logo to one gallon bottles of Arrowhead® Mountain Spring Water, which is available in the western states. The labels will carry the websites of each organization, encouraging consumers to learn more about them.
“Watershed stewardship is something we do every day at our natural spring water source for our spring water brands at NWNA, and we support groups that help preserve and restore watersheds near the communities where we operate,” said Debora Fillis Ryba, Manager of Corporate Affairs at Nestlé Waters North America.
