MIRAMAR, Fla. – (August 16, 2017) – Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) has awarded Coral Gables resident Thomas Falcon its 2017 Kim Jeffrey Scholarship. The USD 10,000 renewable scholarship is presented to an eligible dependent of a NWNA or Nestlé Waters Canada employee who is pursuing full-time study in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) at an accredited four-year college or university.

Falcon is a 2017 Christopher Columbus High School graduate who will attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall to pursue a degree in Computer Science. In high school, Falcon organized and led several large-scale service projects both on and off campus. He is a Mas Family Scholar and was an active member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and National English Honor Society. Falcon is also an active volunteer at His House Children’s Home and the Kiwanis Club of Little Havana.

“Thomas is exactly the type of student that the Kim Jeffrey Scholarship was designed to assist,” said Nestlé Waters North America’s Chief Sustainability Officer Nelson Switzer. “At Nestlé Waters, we understand the importance of STEM education in training future generations to be leaders in sustainability and groundbreaking technology. We hope this scholarship will empower Thomas to succeed at his university and make a positive impact on the world through his professional career.”

“It is an honor to be the recipient of the Kim Jeffrey Scholarship,” said Falcon. “The financial support it will provide gives me the opportunity to pursue my education in computer science with passion and dedication. I do not know what my future holds, but I am sure this scholarship will help me succeed.”

The scholarship honors former Nestlé Waters North America Chairman and CEO Kim Jeffery, who joined the company in 1978 as Central Division Sales Manager. Under his leadership, Nestlé Waters North America developed into the leading bottled water company in America and the nation’s third largest non-alcoholic beverage company.

The Kim Jeffrey Scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America, and the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals.
