Nestlé named the winner of the Stockholm Industry Water Award for leadership to improve water management
Nestlé was awarded the Stockholm Industry Water Award, which will be presented to the company in August during World Water Week in Stockholm. The award, established in 2000 by the Stockholm Water Foundation, recognizes business’ efforts in sustainable water management.
The award recognizes Nestlé’s achievements in improving the water management related to its operations. Over the past ten years, Nestlé has reduced their total water withdrawals by more than 30 percent, doubled their water efficiency and made significant reductions in the quantity of wastewater discharged into the environment.
Additionally, Nestle works directly with farmers to establish sustainable water guidelines and the company provides expert training and technical support to help them reduce water usage and minimize pollution.
Joppe Cramwinckel, award Committee Member and Director of Water Projects at the World Business Council, said in a press release announcing the award that, “Through its unwavering commitment, Nestlé has established itself as a leader in smart water management and is deserving of this prestigious award. It is providing an example for other food producers and distributors to follow.”
