Drought and Flooding
Among the many water challenges we face, drought ranks among the most critical. At Nestlé Waters North America, we take a proactive approach to dealing with drought-related issues. Our teams of engineers and hydrologists carefully measure and manage springs in times of abundance and shortage. If a water source is experiencing a drought, we look to source from alternate sites to ensure our water sourcing is sustainable.
As climate change brings more extreme weather patterns, flooding has become a more significant water challenge. Flooding damages homes, business and infrastructure, but also poses significant ecological risk. Swollen waterbodies pick up pollutants, from manufacturing chemicals to household debris, which can make the water unsafe for recreation, commercial use or consumption. During floods, our natural resource managers monitor our spring sources to ensure that they remain clean, safe sources of drinking water.
