Dr. Janine Rethy is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) Council on Community Pediatrics and Sections on Obesity and Breastfeeding. She serves as an AAP COACH (Childhood Obesity Advisor for Continuing Health). For the AAP DC Chapter, she serves as a CATCH co-facilitator and was recently elected as an at-large board member.
Dr. Rethy also serves as Medical Director for the Kids Mobile Medical Clinic providing integrated, place-based primary care and wrap-around services through a health equity lens FITNESS Program. She is also the program’s medical director, partnering with schools and families to improve nutrition, physical activity and wellness.
In these roles and also as Director of Medical Education for Community Pediatrics, Dr. Rethy believes that every child deserves the opportunity to be healthy and thrive. She strives to achieve that through clinical work, health systems transformation, research focusing on social determinants of health, and advocacy to affect policy and systems change.
