Joe Andruzzi Foundation, Stop & Shop, and Poland Spring® Present a Surprise Life-Changing Gift to Local Cancer Patient

Attleboro, Massachusetts cancer patient gifted a year’s worth of groceries and water at Stop & Shop in Dedham, Massachusetts

North Attleboro, MA - (April 10, 2024) – The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF), providing help, hope, and a reason to smile for New England cancer patients and their families through financial support when it is needed most, today joined forces with Stop & Shop and Poland Spring® Natural Spring Water, to surprise Attleboro, Massachusetts resident Christina Kincey, with a significant gift at an event held at Stop & Shop at 160 Providence Highway in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Kincey, who thought she was participating in a talk with JAF on the costs of cancer treatment before the surprise, has been undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer and was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

A devoted wife and mother of three, the challenges of ongoing treatment placed a considerable strain on her family, both emotionally and financially.  To ease the burden, JAF, Stop & Shop, and Poland Spring® stepped in to provide Christina with a year's worth of groceries and water so she can focus on her health and family.

“For the second year in a row, Poland Spring® is honored to partner with Stop & Shop to raise funds for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation,” said Garret Young, Brand Manager for Poland Spring®. “By teaming up with Stop & Shop to double the donation, we will help ease the burden of medical expenses for cancer patients across New England so they can focus on getting well instead of which medical bills to pay.”

“As the local grocery store it is so important to us that we give back to our community and neighbors in need. We hope Stop & Shop’s help in feeding Christina’s family will allow her to fully focus on her courageous journey to recovery,” said Jennifer Barr, Director of External Communications and Community Relations, Stop & Shop. “We are very proud to continue to support the Joe Andruzzi Foundation and their incredible mission to provide hope and financial assistance to families who are facing cancer.”

“Facing cancer is an incredibly tough journey, and Christina's resilience through it all has been nothing short of inspiring," said Joe Andruzzi, Co-founder, and Chief Engagement Officer of the Joe Andruzzi Foundation. "We're thankful to our partners at Stop & Shop and Poland Spring® for joining us in supporting Christina and her family during this critical time. It's our collective hope that this gift can bring some relief and joy to their lives during this time."

In addition to the heartwarming surprise, both Stop & Shop and Poland Spring® each presented the Joe Andruzzi Foundation with a $25,000 donation, reflecting their ongoing commitment to community support and the fight against cancer.

The generous $50,000 donation will significantly bolster JAF's mission to provide financial assistance to New England cancer patients, helping them cover essential living expenses during their treatment. Stop & Shop's commitment to the community and its fight against cancer is well-documented, as is the dedication of Poland Spring® to supporting local causes and wellness initiatives.

JAF distributed $1.3 million in direct assistance in 2023, to help patients and their families throughout New England with financial assistance to pay for housing, transportation, utilities, food, insurance, and other household expenses.
